ROCKTOBER BAND BOOT CAMP

Build a band. Learn a song. Take the stage.

Ever wanted to play in a real band?

Rocktober Band Boot Camp is a 4-week, hands-on band experience designed to bring musicians together, and get them ready to perform a song live.

Ages 10+ | Minimum 2 years of playing experience

Students will audition, get placed into a group based on their playing level and musical fit, and work together through guided weekly rehearsals with Mike Sands of Rock Academy.

AUDITIONS

Auditions will be held at Music Central on Friday, October 16, with auditions booked in 20-minute time slots.

For your audition, prepare one song you're comfortable playing that gives us a chance to hear what you can do and showcases your musical strengths.

It does NOT need to be note-perfect!

We're not looking for perfection. We want to hear you play, get a feel for your musical abilities, and find the right fit for you within a group.

Come prepared to have some fun and show us what you've got!

THE BAND EXPERIENCE

Selected students will be placed into a band based on playing level, instrumentation, and musical fit.

Bands will participate in 4 weeks of guided rehearsals with Mike Sands, working together to learn their song, develop as a group, and prepare for a live performance.

Rehearsals:
Sunday evenings at Music Central

THE SHOWCASE

The experience wraps up with a live student showcase at The Point in Okotoks on Sunday, November 22, where bands will have the opportunity to perform what they've been working on in front of a live audience.

This isn't just about learning songs — it's about experiencing what it's actually like to be in a band.

PROGRAM COST

Rock Academy / Music Central Students: $90

Non-Rock Academy Students: $115

Space is limited, and placement in a band is based on audition results and finding the right musical fit.
